News and thoughts from the treatment room ๐Ÿช„โœจ

Happy Autumn Equinox!

How's it feeling for you?...

I last wrote an update in the peak of Yang and Summer and all about busy-ness! (Click here if you missed it), and now all of a sudden we're halfway to the peak Yin of Winter.

There's an interesting feeling at this time of year- for many families its all about "back-to-School", back to more routine and regular rhythms (and back to school bugs!). Alongside all of this, there's also often a stirring up of emotions with the change of weather and the change of season.

Late summer is all about Harvest and the Earth energy, and Autumn is all about the Lungs in Chinese Medicine, and all about grief and letting go. So- transitioning between these two elements, there's a lot of assimilation and digesting going on.

When you look at the seasonal picture we think about processing and preserving the crops and summer produce, and then moving on to letting go of what's no longer needed, and recycling the old leaves and branches back into soil.

We are of course also part of the ecosystem, and sometimes we too have to be reminded that we need to let go. Sometimes that comes with relief, and sometimes grief, and often a combination of these, with added guilt, sorrow, anger or even elation. There have been a lot of tears in the treatment room lately, and I'm honoured to offer a safe space for these emotions, and notice what needs a bit of help or support to move through.

The extra challenge on the lungs, plus the change of temperature and chilly autumnal breezes mean we can be more susceptible to coughs and colds and bugs- so do support your immune system - take care to stay warm and cozy, eat your greens and ginger, drink your warm soups and teas- and of course book in your regular acupuncture top up!

ALSO- if you do get a cold, please don't fight it too much, avoid the lemsip and paracetamol unless its really awful- allow your body to rest and take care of business if you can. Warm teas, ginger, and rest are where its at. Sometimes part of the letting go process is just that- letting your body shift some old gunk, break a fever and sweat it out. (disclaimer to of course do what you need to do depending on your history and constitution, and be safe- listen to your body and what its capable of- don't be a hero!)

I've had a lush busy summer, (check my instagram post for a little photo drop!) and I'm also happy to be sinking into a bit more hometime, space for reflection, and maybe a bit of tidying and decluttering- part of my letting go. โ˜ฏ๏ธ

I hope you are all keeping well, and thanks as always for your support and for recommending me and keeping me busy doing what I love. ๐Ÿ™

Side note- if you have any topics you'd like me to talk about please let me know! I need inspiration for the socials!

Do let me know how you're doing and of course if you need an acupuncture boost you know where I am ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿช„

Life is for Living Well News, special offers and updates from the treatment room ๐Ÿช„โœจ On being busy How's your summer going? Its been a crazy couple of months - I've had a spa weekend, a hiking-hostelling weekend, seen old friends down south, camped on a rusty boatyard, swam in rivers, seas and warm spa pools, been to Scotland, looked after mum's lovely old goldendoodle for 2 weeks, had a random dramatic (thankfully very short!) viral illness (!?), picked nurdles off beaches (๐Ÿ˜ข) and kept a...
